Ten-man Earthquakes hang on for scoreless draw at RSL

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - San Jose and Real Salt Lake battled to a 0-0 draw in Major League Soccer action on Wednesday night at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

With the draw, RSL stays unbeaten at home this season as well as unbeaten in its last four league fixtures (2-0-2). San Jose, on the other hand, rebounded nicely from a 3-0 loss vs. Los Angeles on Saturday night.

The draw was made even more impressive for the visitors considering they played the entire second half down a man after Jason Hernandez was given his second yellow card just before the break.

RSL had the game's best chance to score in the 72nd minute when midfielder Javier Morales sent a corner kick into the penalty area. After it was headed into the six-yard box, Kyle Beckerman hammered it into the net, past goalkeeper Joe Cannon. However, referee Jasen Anno consulted the linesman and determined that Beckerman was offside and the game remained scoreless.

Both teams will be back in action this weekend, with San Jose (3-7-2) traveling to D.C. United for a Sunday fixture at RFK Stadium while RSL (4-5-4) hosts the New England Revolution - who also played to a draw on Wednesday night - a day earlier.
