Twente strikes late to tie Ajax

Amsterdam, Netherlands (Sports Network) - Blaise N'Kufo scored in extra time to help Twente tie Ajax, 2-2, on Thursday in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Twente, which won at Heerenveen on Saturday 2-1, posted its second impressive performance on the road to extend its unbeaten streak to nine games.

Stein Huysegems also scored for Twente, which trailed twice in the match.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar had both goals for Ajax, which was trying to bounce back from a stunning 2-1 loss to Excelsior on Sunday.

Ajax lost ground to PSV and Feyenoord on Sunday but used Huntelaar's two goals to grab the lead twice against Twente with a chance to move into second in the league.

Huntelaar, who leads the Eredivisie with 15 goals, scored his first goal in the 32nd minute.

Huysegems equalized for Twente in the 61st, but Huntelaar scored again in 76th for Ajax.

With three points nearly wrapped up, N'Kufo scored in the 90th minute to help Twente escape with one point and extend its streak.

N'Kufo is second in league behind Huntelaar in scoring with 12 goals.

Twente (7-2-8) is sixth in the league, but just six points behind first-place Feyenoord. Ajax (9-2-5) is still third, just three points behind the leaders.

Excelsior entered its match against Ajax last in the Eredivisie and reverted to form Thursday with a 4-1 loss to Utrecht.

Robin Nelisse, Leroy George, Francis Dickoh and Loic Loval scored for Utrecht, which is eighth but just eight points behind Feyenoord.

Cheikh Tiote scored in the opening minute and Roda held on to edge Heerenveen, 1-0. Roda is seventh and just six back in a group of teams with 29 points.

Heerenveen entered last weekend on an 11-game unbeaten streak, but lost both games this week to blow a chance at the top spot in the league.

Santi Kolk and Harrie Gommans scored to help Vitesse edge NAC, 2-1. NAC missed a penalty kick in the early stages of the second half and scored its lone goal on a penalty kick from Edwin de Graaf in the 90th minute.

Kwame Quansah scored in the 86th minute to lift Heracles out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 win over Willem II.
