U.S. adds Hejduk, Edu for England game

London, England (Sports Network) - United States men's national team coach Bob Bradley added Columbus Crew defender Frankie Hejduk and Toronto FC midfielder Maurice Edu to the team's roster for Wednesday's friendly against England.

Bradley made the additions because West Ham defender Jonathan Spector has been experiencing hip joint irritation and Derby midfielder Benny Feilhaber has been ruled out with a knee injury.

Hejduk, a two-time World Cup veteran, has played 75 times for the United States but this is the first time Bradley has used him this year.

Wednesday's clash at Wembley Stadium in London is the first of three friendlies against top-11 teams. England is ranked 11 by FIFA, and the U.S. visits fourth- ranked Spain on June 4 and hosts No. 1 Argentina on June 8.

The United States, which is ranked 21st, begins World Cup qualifying on June 15 against Barbados.
