United's Carrick will miss at least a monthManchester, England (Sports Network) - Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has been ruled out for at least a month by a foot injury, the club announced Tuesday. The 27-year-old England international was injured in the 2-1 defeat at Liverpool at the weekend, with scans revealing a broken bone in his right foot.
Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed ahead of the Champions League
clash with Villarreal. "Michael Carrick was taken off on Saturday and it has not turned out well for us," he said. "He has got a small crack in his right foot which was diagnosed on Sunday afternoon and he will be out for four to six weeks, which is not good." Carrick joined United in the summer of 2006 from Tottenham Hotspur and has gone on to score eight goals in 104 appearances for the Old Trafford club. Last season he helped United clinch a famous double of Premier League and Champions League titles. (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
