United picks up Miller off waivers from Columbus

Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United acquired defender Ryan Miller after he was waived by the Columbus Crew, the team announced on Monday.

"We are pleased to have picked up Ryan off of waivers," United General Manager Dave Kasper said. "He has very good athletic qualities and he will provide us with cover in the midfield and at the back."

The 23-year-old was originally drafted by Columbus in the third round of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, but did not see any first team action with the Crew this season.
