Villarreal captures Ibagaza from Mallorca

Villarreal, Spain (Sports Network) - Villarreal have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Ariel Ibagaza from La Liga rivals Mallorca.

The 31-year-old Argentinean was one of the Balearic club's key players last season as they secured UEFA Cup qualification via a seventh-placed finish in the league.

Ibagaza is the fifth player to arrive at El Madrigal already this summer following the previous captures of Edmilson, Joseba Llorente, Damian Escudero and Robert Flores.

"Villarreal and Mallorca have reached an agreement whereby the player, Ariel Ibagaza, will belong to the Amarillos for the next two season," read a club statement.

"Furthermore, the Yellow Submarine has the option of extending the player's contract for a further year when it reaches its conclusion in 2009/2010."
