Wambach moves closer to milestone as U.S. rolls


Fredrikstad, Norway (Sports Network) - Abby Wambach scored her 99th career goal to help the United States women's national team beat Norway, 4-0, on Wednesday in a preview of the first match of the upcoming Olympics.

Lindsay Tarpley, Carli Lloyd and Angela Hucles also scored for the U.S., which has won all 19 of its games this year.

Tarpley opened the scoring in the fifth minute, Lloyd doubled the lead in the 53rd minute and Hucles and Wambach added goals in the final five minutes.

The U.S. will play Norway again on Aug. 6 in Qinhuangdao, China to open the '08 Olympic Games.

The Americans continue to prepare for the Olympics on Saturday in an exhibition at Sweden. The U.S. wraps up its preparations with games against Brazil on July 13 and 16 in the United States.
