Blake, Williams sisters named to U.S. Olympic tennis teamWhite Plains, NY (Sports Network) - The United States has named its tennis team for the 2008 Olympic Summer Games, and players such as James Blake and Venus and Serena Williams will be heading to China in August. The five American men will be Blake, Sam Querrey and Robby Ginepri -- playing singles -- and the doubles tandem of Bob and Mike Bryan, while the four-player women's squad will feature the powerful Williams sisters, as well as Lindsay Davenport and the world's No. 1 women's doubles player, Liezel Huber. Blake and Querrey, in addition to their singles activity, will also play doubles together, while Davenport will play singles and doubles, alongside Huber, while the Williamses will play singles and will also pair up for doubles. Venus (singles and doubles), Serena (doubles) and Davenport (singles) already own Olympic gold medals.
The men will be coached by Rodney Harmon, while the women will be guided by
Zina Garrison. The Olympic tennis tournament will be staged from August 10-17 on the hardcourts at Beijing's Olympic Green Tennis Center.
