In other action Yvonne Meusburger of Austria and Frenchwomen Aravane Rezai and
Pauline Parmentier advanced in straight sets. Meusburger blitzed Spain's
Lourdes Dominguez Lino, 6-1, 6-2, while Rezai had little trouble with American
Asia Muhammad, 6-2, 6-4, and Parmentier disposed of New Zealand's Marina
Erakovic, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2). Meanwhile, 15th-seeded Swiss Patty Schnyder needed three sets to shake Anastasia Pivovarova of Russia, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. The top woman in action Monday will be second-seeded Serb Jelena Jankovic, who takes on American Coco Vandeweghe. World No. 1 and top-seed Ana Ivanovic, the French Open champion and Aussie Open runner-up, gets under way Tuesday against Russian Vera Dushevina.
