Errani tops Koryttseva in Palermo final

Palermo, Italy (Sports Network) - Fifth-seeded Italian Sara Errani routed Mariya Koryttseva of the Ukraine in straight sets to win the Palermo International tennis tournament.

Errani, who bested top-seeded countrywoman Flavia Pennetta in the semifinals, topped the seventh-seeded Koryttseva, 6-2, 6-3.

Koryttseva had upended four-time champion Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain in the semis.

Errani, who lost in the first round at Wimbledon, is now a three-time singles winner in her brief career and earned $22,750 for her efforts.

Koryttseva, who also bowed out in the first round in London, has yet to win a title this year.
