Ferrer, Almagro win to set up final matchup at ValenciaValencia, Spain (Sports Network) - Spanish favorites David Ferrer and Nicolas Almagro notched quarterfinal victories Saturday at the $585,000 Valencia Open, and will meet in an all-Spanish final. The top-seeded Ferrer, the 2005 Valencia runner-up, held off fellow countryman and third-seeded Tommy Robredo 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 on the red clay at CT Valencia.
Almagro, the two-time defending champ here, toppled Russian Evgeny Korolev
6-1, 6-4 Saturday to set up the meeting with Ferrer. Almagro won his 13th
straight match at this event Friday by leveling second-seeded Argentine
Juan Monaco 6-3, 6-2. Almagro beat Potito Starace in last year's finale to
claim his second straight championship here. Korolev secured a berth in the final four by handling Dutchman Robin Haase 7-5, 6-4. This week's titlist will collect $93,000.
