Ferrer moves on; Gasquet bows out at Ordina Open

's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands (Sports Network) - Top-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer moved into the quarterfinals, while second-seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet came up a second-round loser Tuesday at the grass-court Ordina Open, a final Wimbledon tuneup.

The world No. 5 Ferrer got past Italian qualifier Massimo Dell'Acqua 6-2, 7-6 (7-3), while the 2007 Wimbledon semifinalist Gasquet was upended by fellow Frenchman Marc Gicquel 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) at Autotron Rosmalen. Ferrer will now appear in his eighth quarterfinal of the season.

Ferrer's opponent here on Thursday will be two-time Ordina Open titlist Mario Ancic, who captured this event back-to-back in 2005 and 2006.

Meanwhile, Austrian lefthander Jurgen Melzer took out fifth-seeded Russian Igor Andreev 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 and a sixth-seeded Ancic, of Croatia, leveled Belgian Steve Darcis 6-2, 6-4. Ancic has won his last 12 matches at this event and is 15-2 lifetime in 's-Hertogenbosch. Melzer will meet Gicquel in the round of eight here.

On Wednesday, second-round matches will come for fourth-seeded and defending Ordina champion Ivan Ljubicic and seventh-seeded Argentine Guillermo Canas. The Croatian Ljubicic, who topped Dutchman Peter Wessels in last year's finale, will take on Serbian Viktor Troicki.
