Ginepri eliminated at French OpenParis, France (Sports Network) - Robby Ginepri, the last American in singles play at the French Open, was eliminated in fourth-round action Monday at Roland Garros. Fernando Gonzalez ended the unseeded Ginepri's surprising run with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, 6-1 victory. The 24th-seeded Chilean will play in the French quarterfinals for the second time in his career, previously reaching the round of eight in 2003.
Next up for Gonzalez could be top-seeded Roger Federer. The two-time French
Open runner-up is playing his fourth-round match against France's Julien
Benneteau. Ginepri, meanwhile, had never even won a match in five previous tries at the French Open. He became the first American man to reach the fourth round at the Paris slam in five years.
