Medina Garrigues, Ruano Pascual win doubles title in Paris


Paris, France (Sports Network) - A Spanish team of Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual captured the women's doubles title Friday at the 2008 French Open.

The 10th-seeded Medina Garrigues and Ruano Pascual came from behind to top an unseeded tandem of Aussie Casey Dellacqua and Italian Francesca Schiavone 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 at Roland Garros.

Ruano Pascual is now a nine-time Grand Slam and five-time French Open doubles champion. She previously teamed with Argentine Paola Suarez to win eight majors, including four French Opens, in 14 Grand Slam finals.

Medina Garrigues and Ruano Pascual will each get $470,000.
