Pennetta bows out in PortugalEstoril, Portugal (Sports Network) - Top-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta was among Wednesday's second-round losers at the $145,000 Estoril Open. Czech Iveta Benesova bounced Pennetta in easy 6-2, 6-2 fashion on the red clay at Estadio Nacional. Benesova was the runner-up here back in 2004.
Three other seeds avoided upsets on Day 3, as No. 3 Italian Karin Knapp
handled Colombian qualifier Mariana Duque Marino 6-3, 6-4, No. 6 Czech Klara
Zakopalova zipped past Italian qualifier Corinna Dentoni 6-4, 6-1, and No. 8
Camille Pin of France topped Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova 6-3, 6-4. Knapp will
face Zakopalova in the quarterfinals, while Pin will encounter Benesova. The 2008 Estoril champion will collect $24,400.
